Past auction recaps

The current week's recap always lives on the main Auction Analysis page. Everything older lives here, in full, so nothing gets lost as the library grows.

A $1.14 Million Ohtani Headlines a Record Premier Auction — Plus the Caleb Williams vs. Jaxson Dart Black Finite Battle

Fanatics Collect's August Premier Auction — the modern monthly successor to PWCC's marquee sale — closed Friday, Aug 28, right alongside Alt's and Goldin's weekly auctions, which both closed Thursday night, Aug 27. We filtered all three to sports only (basketball, football, baseball, soccer, hockey, combat sports, racing, golf, and tennis — no Pokémon or TCG) and sorted by final price, then cross-checked the standout names against Card Ladder's Player Index data. Here's what moved.

The August Premier Auction smashed records

Fanatics Collect's Premier Auction runs once a month instead of weekly, and this edition delivered at least 18 individual sales over $300,000 in a single day — not counting a $1,020,000 Pokémon 1/1 that falls outside our sports-only scope. Here are the six biggest sports sales.

1

2025 Topps Dynasty Gold Shohei Ohtani MLB Logoman Patch Autograph, DNA 10, 1/1, #SO, PSA 9 MINT

Fanatics Collect Premier Auction · Aug PA Lot 1

The single largest sale we've tracked on any platform this year. Ohtani's Card Ladder Index sits at $42,631, up 20.96% over the last 3 months across just 92 tracked cards — a true 1/1 game-used MLB Logoman patch autograph in that thin a market is exactly the kind of card that clears seven figures.

$1,140,000 final price
2

2026 Topps Chrome B2B MVP Award Winner Aaron Judge Dual Gold Logoman Patch Autograph, 1/1, CGC Auth (Unscratched Redemption)

Fanatics Collect Premier Auction · Aug PA Lot 12F1

Judge's Card Ladder Index sits at $177,414, down 5.50% over 3 months across 197 tracked cards — a rare dip in an otherwise hot market. Even so, this dual game-used Gold Logoman on-card autograph 1/1 cleared nearly $1 million.

$900,000 final price
3

1952 Topps Mickey Mantle #311, PSA 6 EXMT

Fanatics Collect Premier Auction · Aug PA Lot 15

Mantle's Card Ladder Index sits at $16,815, up 62.80% over 3 months across 544 tracked cards — the fastest-growing index among this week's headliners. The single most iconic card in the hobby, and a mid-grade copy still commanded $690,000.

$690,000 final price
4

2003 Exquisite Collection Number Pieces LeBron James Rookie Patch Autograph, /23, #LJ, BGS 9 MINT

Fanatics Collect Premier Auction · Aug PA Lot 4

LeBron's Card Ladder Index sits at $56,110, up 41.58% over 3 months across 1,093 tracked cards. This rookie patch autograph — one of only 23 made — is considered the crown jewel of his rookie class.

$588,000 final price
5

1986 Fleer Basketball Michael Jordan Rookie Autograph, DNA 10, #57, PSA 8 NM-MT (MBA Silver)

Fanatics Collect Premier Auction · Aug PA Lot 2

Jordan's Card Ladder Index sits at $50,717, up 35.96% over 3 months across 1,843 tracked cards — still the hottest name in the hobby. The autograph is doing the heavy lifting over an unsigned copy of the same card.

$516,000 final price
6

1984 Star Basketball Michael Jordan Rookie #101, PSA 8 NM-MT (Fanatics Collect Eye Appeal: Top 30%)

Fanatics Collect Premier Auction · Aug PA Lot 6

A PSA 6 copy of this same card sold for $92,180 as an index comp. A PSA 7 copy also sold this same week on Alt for $156,000 (see "The GOATs ran the board" below) — three grades, three very different prices, one hot rookie card.

$504,000 final price

The Black Finite Battle: Caleb Williams vs. Jaxson Dart

Two straight lots in the same Premier Auction, two true 1-of-1 Panini Prizm Black Finite rookie parallels, two current NFL starting quarterbacks. Here's how the market valued each.

1

2024 Panini Prizm Black Finite Caleb Williams Rookie, 1/1, #301, PSA 9 MINT

Fanatics Collect Premier Auction · Aug PA Lot 22

Williams' Card Ladder Index sits at just $2,337, up 60.17% over 3 months — but that's built on base and Silver Prizm copies selling for hundreds, not thousands. A true 1/1 rookie parallel found a buyer at nearly 100x that index value.

$222,000 final price
2

2025 Panini Prizm Black Finite Jaxson Dart Rookie, 1/1, #332, PSA 10 GEM MINT

Fanatics Collect Premier Auction · Aug PA Lot 23

Dart doesn't have enough sales volume yet for a Card Ladder Index value, but his 2025 Donruss Downtown Gold /10 PSA 10 last sold for $20,200. On rarity and a full grade point higher than Williams' copy (PSA 10 vs. PSA 9), this 1/1 came within $18,000 of matching Williams' number.

$204,000 final price

The GOATs ran the board

1

2025 Panini Flawless WNBA Logowomen Patch Autograph Platinum #FPAPBU Paige Bueckers, 1/1

Alt Weekly Auction (Aug 14–27)

The week's single biggest sports sale on either platform. WNBA cards aren't covered by Card Ladder's Player Index the way basketball and football are, but the sport's overall index is one of the fastest-growing we track (see Weekly Market Pulse above) — and a true 1/1 patch autograph of the league's biggest rookie name backs that up.

$249,750 final price
2

2018 Upper Deck Goodwin Champions Goudey Sport Royalty Autograph '19 Insert #SRASO Shohei Ohtani, BGS 9.5 Auto 10

Alt Weekly Auction (Aug 14–27)

Ohtani's Card Ladder Index sits at a current value of 42,631, up 20.96% over the last 3 months across 92 tracked cards — a small market, but three separate Ohtani autos combined for more than $385,000 across Alt and Goldin this week alone.

$213,000 final price
3

1984 Star Michael Jordan #101, PSA 7

Alt Weekly Auction (Aug 14–27)

Jordan's Card Ladder Index sits at 50,717, up 35.96% over the last 3 months across 1,843 tracked cards — still the single hottest name in the hobby. A PSA 6 copy of this exact card/year sold for $102,000 on Fanatics Collect just last week; this PSA 7 copy topped that by more than 50% — and a higher-graded PSA 8 copy sold for $504,000 in Fanatics Collect's Premier Auction this same week (see "The August Premier Auction smashed records" above).

$156,000 final price
4

2000 Bowman Chrome Refractor Tom Brady Rookie #236, PSA 9

Alt Weekly Auction (Aug 14–27)

Brady's Card Ladder Index sits at 170,351, up 35.59% over 3 months across 552 tracked cards. This exact rare Refractor rookie also changed hands on Goldin this week — an SGC GEM MINT 10 (Pop 3) copy sold there for $61,000, meaning two copies of the same card traded across two platforms in the same week.

$145,877 final price

$138,566 final price

Card Ladder Player Index data (current value, 3-month rate of growth, tracked card count) is cited from Card Ladder's public Players pages, pulled Aug 28, 2026, for informational purposes only — not investment advice, and JB Cards & Collectibles is not affiliated with Card Ladder, Fanatics Collect, Alt, or Goldin. Pokémon, Magic: The Gathering, and other TCG lots are excluded — including a $1,020,000 Pokémon 1/1 that also sold in the Premier Auction; this recap covers sports cards only.

Michael Jordan Cards Take Over Weekly Auction #240 — And a Wemby Rookie Shows the Next Wave Is Already Paying Off

Fanatics Collect's Weekly Auction #240 closed Sunday night, Aug 23. (Quick note: PWCC Marketplace now redirects straight to Fanatics Collect — the two have merged, so this is the only major weekly auction to check going forward instead of two separate sites.) We filtered the closed results to sports only (basketball, football, baseball, soccer, hockey, combat sports, racing, golf, and tennis — no Pokémon or TCG, even though Pokémon technically dominated the top of the price sheet again) and sorted by final price, then cross-checked the standout names against Card Ladder's Player Index data. Here's what moved.
